Our mission is to invest in all aspects of the rapidly evolving cannabis industry, focusing on products grown and processed through organic, sustainable practices and to bring new operating concepts to the industry including farming industrial hemp, Cannabidiol(CBD) extraction and the cultivation of cannabis for both medical and recreational uses.
The medical benefits of CBD are well documented, and as additional studies are performed more beneficial uses are uncovered.
It has been suggested that CDB oil can help with several medical issues, including:
- Pain Relief
- Epileptic Seizures
- Depression and Anxiety
To ensure top quality organic products, Mari-Co starts with soil untreated with chemical/petroleum based fertilizers and pesticides. Continuing the organic chain, the Company extracts the valuable oils from the plants using a CO2 extraction process. Recent developments in CO2 processing creates products devoid of toxins and heavy metals. The CO2 process produces oils that appeal to a more environmentally and health oriented consumer who takes comfort in knowing that the product he or she consumes is environmentally friendly and safe from heavy metals.
Our Extraction process of CBD from Plant Material and CBD Paste
Step 1: Oil Extraction – From Plant Material
CO2 Extraction or a pure Ethyl alcohol wash are the methods used to isolate the oils from the plant material. The CO2 extraction method produces a thick, oily substance in a semi crude form containing all the oils, Cannabinoids, Terpenes, waxes and lipids that exists in the plant. Ethyl alcohol extracted product has less waxes and lipids, but is still in a crude form requiring further processing, similar to Step 2.
Step 2: Winterizing – For Hemp Paste
CO2 Extracted Oil and Ethyl Alcohol Extracted Oil Ethyl alcohol is added to the extracted oil in an approximate 5 to 1 ratio and blended into a solution. The solution is chilled in a subzero freezer for 24 hours. Freezing allows the waxes and unwanted lipids to solidify allowing for easy removal which may then be refined into other marketable products. The cannabinoids and terpenes will be left in the ethyl alcohol solution primed for Step 3, Distillation.
Step 3: Distillation – Refined Product
Distillation separates the alcohol from the solution (alcohol, cannabinoids and terpenes). This step is done with a rotary evaporator. Heat and stirring will pull all of the ethyl alcohol into another chamber during this process leaving only the cannabinoids and terpenes in the oily solution.
Step 4: Short Path Distillation – Ultra Refined Product
To produce an Ultra-Refined Product, the Refined Product produced by Distillation is further refined through the Short Path Distillation process. This distillation process separates the different oils from the Refined Product, producing CBD with purity at 99% or greater.
